The game is free forever.
Not free-to-start, not free-until-we-change-our-minds. Every club, every world and every screen is free to play, and it will stay that way. There is one paid plan, and there is a hard rule over it: nothing anybody can pay for wins a match.
What stays true
Five specific things rather than a mood. Each one is checkable, which is the only kind of promise worth making.
- Every club screen, every world and every club competition is free. Annual Membership adds clubs, names, kit colours, a national team job, holiday leave and the API Hub.
- Nothing bought with money wins a match. No transfer budgets for sale, no boosts, no faster training, on any plan.
- Nothing bought with money is information. A subscriber sees exactly what a free account sees, which is all of it.
- Advertising lives in one slot, and never anywhere else. No pop-ups, no interstitials, nothing between you and a match.
- Nobody's data is sold - not to advertisers, not to anyone. An advertiser buys the slot, not you.
About the ads
There is advertising in Tactics11, and it is worth being precise about where. Everybody sees the same slot, member or not - a rotation of companies that pay for it by the month and the game's own adverts. It is never in the way of a decision, and Annual Membership funds the game alongside it rather than buying a quieter version of it.
One slot on a page, and never more than one. It sits above the footer, inside the game and on the pages around it. It keeps its size whether or not anything is in it, so nothing on the page ever moves under your cursor because an ad arrived late. There is nothing anywhere else - no pop-ups, no full-screen takeover between you and a match, no ad before a highlight, nothing in the middle of your squad list, and nothing that has to be dismissed before you can carry on managing. If one appears somewhere else, that is a bug, and it is one we want reported.
What runs in it is the same for everybody: companies that agreed a price with us for a month or more, sharing the slot in turn, and the game's own adverts. The sponsors you see on shirts, grounds and competitions inside the game are fictional and never appear in it.
And nothing an advertiser pays for reaches the pitch. No result, no transfer, no training session and no table is affected by advertising in any way - the same guarantee that covers a subscription is what covers this.
What that one slot pays for
The reason it is there at all. A game with no paywall still has a bill at the end of the month, and between the slot and the subscriptions this is what covers it.
People who stay
Good developers are not a one-off purchase. Paying them properly is the difference between a game that improves week by week and one that gets a burst of attention every few months and then goes quiet.
The broadcast
Live matches, the gazette and the public data feed are how somebody who has never heard of this finds it, and how somebody on a bad connection in the wrong time zone still gets to watch their side play.
Servers that keep up
A world runs around the clock, and every manager who joins adds squads to train, fixtures to simulate and a season to remember. Better hardware keeps a matchday quick for everybody rather than for whoever loaded the page first.
Advertise on Tactics11
Thirty days in the shared slot at one published rate, never renewed automatically. A place in a rotation - never a result, never a transfer and never a reader.
Questions about paying
Is Tactics11 still free?
Yes, for ever. One club, every world, every club competition, every screen and the whole match engine, on an account that never pays anything. Everybody can follow the World Cup. Annual Membership adds more clubs, a national team job, holiday leave, kit colours, your own names and the API Hub.
What does Annual Membership cost?
One payment a year, for 365 days from the day you pay, whenever in the season that is. It renews automatically each year unless you untick it at checkout or turn it off later; you keep what you paid for either way. There is no monthly plan.
Can I buy it in the app?
Yes, at the same price, shown by the App Store or Google Play in your own currency. It is one membership however it is bought: buy it here, sign in on your phone, and it is already there. A membership bought in an app renews and is cancelled in that store, one bought here on the Annual Membership screen.
Can I give Annual Membership to somebody?
Yes, to anybody who is not already a member and accepts gifts. Name a manager, or give one or more to active managers picked at random. They can always say no, and a gift nobody takes is never lost: a random one goes to somebody else and a named one comes back to you. A gift has no cash value, cannot be resold, and is non-refundable once claimed.
Is managing a national team pay-to-win?
No. A nation is picked from players who already belong to clubs in that world, so nobody's club gets stronger, and one manager holds each nation. Every club manager's players are called up the same way, whoever runs the nation.
What is holiday leave?
Once a season you can hand your clubs to the AI for up to 30 days. They are run exactly like every other AI club: it picks the side, it does not buy or sell, and the board does not count your absence against you.
Does Annual Membership make me better at the game?
No, and it never will. Nothing on any plan touches a result, a transfer, a training session or a table, and nothing on any plan tells a subscriber something a free account cannot also see. An advantage in information is pay-to-win wearing a different hat.
What does the gold badge do?
It is worn beside your name wherever your name appears - a club header, a league table, a rival row, a news byline. It says you pay for this, and nothing else.
Can I rename players?
As a member, one player every thirty days, across every club you hold. Names go past the same moderation every name in the game does, and your Integrity Rating applies.
What happens to my clubs if I stop paying?
Nothing is seized on the hour a card fails. You keep the first club you ever took, for ever, on the free plan. If you hold more than the free plan allows you are told which club is affected and when, in that club's own inbox, and you choose for yourself which to carry on with.
